High-precision ABI encoder designed for seamless use with VESC controllers
43 in stock
The VESC ABI Encoder is a rotary position sensor designed for seamless integration with VESC motor controllers. It provides two out-of-phase digital signals, an index signal once per revolution as well as a PWM signal that is used to initialize the position at boot before the index signal is found. Using these signals, the VESC firmware calculates absolute rotor position and direction with exceptional accuracy and resolution.
Using VESC Tool, the encoder can be easily configured through the included example calibration script. The encoder PCB features mounting holes for M3 bolts and supports motors such as the SIA155 and QS165, among others. The outer ring can be trimmed for installation in more space-constrained applications.
It is also possible to use the encoder in hall sensor emulation mode. This can be configured via I2C, with example configuration scripts included in VESC Tool. VESC motor controllers and ESP-based peripherals can run I2C on most pins using LispBM, including the encoder or hall sensor pins where the encoder is normally connected.
The encoder comes pre-configured in ABI + PWM mode with 1024 pulses per revolution.
