Benjamin Vedder

Lead Electrical & Software Engineer

Founder of the VESC® Project

Since 2012 Benjamin has been working on the VESC software and hardware. He is the main author and contributor of the VESC device firmware, VESC Tool desktop and VESC Tool mobile.

BEng Automation and Mechatronics (Chalmers, 2010)
MEng Communication Engineering (Chalmers, 2012)
Ph.D. in Computer Science with a focus on the design and testing of dependable autonomous systems

Jeffrey Friesen

Lead Mechanical Engineer

Jeff has designed a multitude of motor controllers in collaboration with several different companies making Light EVs. He first became a contributor to the VESC code base in 2020 and since then has worked closely with Benjamin. Jeff worked for Heart Aerospace developing an 800V motor controller prototype for a 19 passenger electric airplane.

University of California, San Diego Ph.D. candidate degree.

David Garlinge

Head of Operations

Dave has been working with VESC customer support, hardware setups, cable kits, manuals and documentation for 8 years at Trampa Boards.  He understands the VESC Tool very well for both motor configuration and LispBM-scripting. He can take any set of individual VESC hardware devices, wire them up in any type of vehicle and get everything running perfectly.

Renee Jastram

Software Engineer

Renee is a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer with over 15 years of experience in embedded systems and robotics. She specializes in hardware and firmware for applications such as advanced seismic data systems and ultra-low power monitoring devices. Renee’s work on robotics, IoT devices and advanced control systems showcases her unique blend of creativity and technical prowess. Renee is an active contributor to the VESC codebase and understands LispBM very well.

David Molony

Electrical Engineer

David worked in the field of robotics and automation for biotech as the Technical Lead for several developments including cell culture automation, DNA sequencing automation and GaN production. In parallel he used his skills to work on Light EVs and motor control hardware and firmware. He developed his own motor control FOC firmware and motor observer. David is an active member of the VESC community and has designed motor controllers for many of the VESC-based companies.

Master of Engineering (Cambridge)

CEng MIMechE

Joel Svensson

Programmer

Joel is a functional programming enthusiast and runtime system implementer. He is responsible for developing LispBM; a programming language which has revolutionized the VESC software, enabling custom scripts and features to be implemented into projects and products.
